- Respite Care

Respite care is one of the important services NDIS participants can get from Dreams Alive Care. This service provides short-term relief for the person who needs care and their carers. It allows people to relax, recharge and cope with their daily life.
Respite care can be provided in a range of ways
In-home Respite Care
includes providing support while the person is at home. The support worker will provide assistance with personal care, household chores, or other tasks as required.
Emergency Respite Care
involves providing support immediately after an emergency, such as an accident or illness. The support worker will assist the person in getting back on their feet and return home as soon as possible.
involves providing a short break away from home for people who require it due to their disability or illness. Accommodation respite care is often used when someone needs time away from their usual environment to rest and recuperate before returning home.
Dreams Alive Care puts a premium on delivering Respite Care. We believe in empowering our participants to take control of their own lives, so we’ve made it easy for them and their carers to access and manage their respite care online at any time! Best of all, we’ll send you text reminders before each appointment, so there’s no need to worry about forgetting or missing an appointment.
Additionally, Dreams Alive Care is one of the only providers that offers 24/7 support via phone. We understand that life happens—sometimes at inconvenient times—and we want to make sure that if something comes up that needs immediate attention, we can help.

Frequently Asked Questions
Respite Care, often referred to as Short Term Accommodation (STA) and Assistance in the NDIS, provides short-term support for a participant. It is designed to give a break to both the person with a disability and their primary carers, allowing everyone to relax, recharge, and manage daily life more effectively.
We offer three main types of respite care to suit different needs:
1. In-home Respite: A support worker comes to your home to assist with personal care, household chores, or other tasks.
2. Emergency Respite: Immediate support provided after an unforeseen event like an accident or illness to help you get back on track.
3. Accommodation Respite: A short-term stay away from your usual home in a supportive environment to rest and recuperate.
Respite Care is typically funded under the NDIS if it is deemed a “reasonable and necessary” support that helps you pursue your goals and participate in the community. Your NDIS plan needs to include funding for Core Supports, specifically for Short Term Accommodation (STA). Our team can help you understand your plan and eligibility.
We have made the process simple. You can manage your respite care bookings at any time. To make it even easier, we provide reminders before each appointment, so you never have to worry about forgetting or missing a scheduled session.
